PAR & Lighting Study
FRANCOIS NEO · YOUR AQUARIUMPARTNER
Measure your light. Place your corals with purpose.
A lighting study helps you understand the light distribution in your aquarium before changing fixtures, increasing intensity or moving corals.
We review your lighting setup, take PAR readings at agreed positions and discuss what those measurements mean for your aquascape and livestock goals.

Start with your aquarium
Your fixture settings are only part of the picture. We look at the aquarium dimensions, light placement, aquascape and current coral positions, then define where measurements will be most useful.
The aim is to make practical decisions using readings from your own setup, alongside observations of the aquarium.
What the study can include
- Lighting review: fixture models, mounting height, layout and current schedule.
- PAR readings: measurements at agreed locations and depths under documented lighting settings.
- A result record: measurement locations and readings so you can refer back to the session.
- Coverage review: discussion of differences between measured positions, including shaded and more exposed areas.
- Coral placement: recommendations informed by coral type, condition and acclimation history.
- Adjustment priorities: suggestions for fixture positioning, settings or the need for further investigation.
The number of measurement points, any before-and-after comparisons and the format of the result record are agreed in the service scope.

When to consider a study
- You are setting up a reef and planning coral placement.
- You are replacing fixtures or changing their height or arrangement.
- Your aquascape has changed and you want to reassess coverage.
- You want to investigate a lighting concern before buying more equipment.
- You would like a documented baseline for later comparison.
How it works
- Share your setup. Send tank dimensions, fixture details, current settings and aquarium photos.
- Agree on the visit. We confirm your location, access, measurement plan, scope and quote.
- Document and measure. We record the relevant lighting settings and measurement positions during the study.
- Review the findings. We discuss placement and adjustment priorities. Any agreed adjustments and repeat readings are documented.
- Plan follow-up if needed. Further measurements or continuing guidance can be arranged separately.
A measurement is a starting point
The study focuses on lighting. We also consider your observations and recent changes so the results are not interpreted in isolation. Where the concern extends beyond lighting, we can discuss aquarium consulting, water analysis or ongoing coaching.
We agree a measured approach to any changes and discuss how to monitor the aquarium's response.
